The Art of Flower Pressing
Pressing flowers is an ancient art form, originally practised by the Greek and Romans thousands of years ago.
Before you begin, it's vital you choose the right flowers to press, as not every style will work. Opt for blooms that are naturally flat, such as pansies, daisies and violets. When flower pressing, choose foliage and plants that will look good when pressed flat – large flouncy blooms, for example, won't work as well.
The technique makes an ephemeral beauty eternal by flattening the daisies, pansies, violets, and wildflowers that color your garden and turning them into enchanting home decor.
How to use a Flower Press
1. Purchase a flower press kit
2. Cut blotting paper to fit the size of your wood flower press. Then cut cardboard the same size to use between the “pages”
3. Carefully place your flower(s) between your two chosen pieces of paper. Then add a piece of cardboard.
4. Place this into the flower press and sandwich the difference flower levels and then tighten the screws up.
5. You can change the paper every two to three days.
The flower(s) will be ready in three to four weeks depending how dry the area is.
