Follow the 2km walking trail that winds its’ way through a landscape of ponds, cliffs, rocks and flowing shrubs which have all been created from a former quarry site. Our Story

Starting from a derelict quarry site, extensive planting and landscape design has transformed the park into one of NZ’s largest outdoor galleries. The journey has been 32 years in the making and John and Dorothy Wakeling share their story of why and how the Park was created.

Rain or shine, a stroll through the park will refresh your spirits! Make sure you allow a minimum of 2 hours unless you are just out for a quick jog….

This is an ideal place to meet up with friends and family. The park appeals to all generations and sparks memorable conversations and shared experiences.

Whether you want to stop for a coffee, enjoy some ice cream, shop a little or book in for a rest and recupe, we can provide the unique Roosting Ruru experience.
