Meet the Gardener’s

At the Sculpture Park the 17.5 hectares is managed by our small garden crew who have to be masters of many things.

The park has developed into a green oasis of many different geographically named areas - there is American, Australian, Asian and a Latin section. There is also a Rock Garden for the cacti and succulents and we have just recently completed the new Fernery after the zone was damaged with a storm. The first trees planted were the radiata pine on the steepest hillsides and ridgelines. They created shelter, grew extremely well and have since developed as a dramatic backdrop to the rest of the plantings. During this 30-year project trees have been acquired from a variety of sources; some from specialist nursers, friends have donated and of course we have propagated some ourselves from seeds and cuttings.
