The Power of Mindfulness

Join us for a journey of mindfulness and movement, where art and nature converge to restore the mind, body and spirit.

Our Nourish your Mind & Body workshop blends the invigorating flow of Vinyasa Yoga with the deep relaxation and restorative power of Yin Yoga.

Liz Missen will take you on a journey of discovery with her 3 hour workshop. Set up on the stage which overlooks the Quarry Pond and feel the power of these ancient therapies. Then relax and enjoy a nourishing lunch and the tranquility of the park before finishing your session.

What is Yin Yoga?

This form of yoga is slow-paced and incorporates principals of traditional Chinese medicine with asanas (the physical poses or postures) that are held for longer periods of time compared to other forms of yoga.

Yin Yoga works to move us out of our sympathetic nervous system and activate the parasympathetic nervous system which is our rest and digest response. Spending time in this system response allows for restoration and healing to occur and therefor decreases stress and anxiety.

This form of yoga works on your mental fortitude and resilience allowing for more emotional balance. Yin yoga can help you to learn to be kind to yourself and to others.

What is Vinyasa Yoga?

Vinyasa yoga has a flow and strings poses together to make a sequence. In this yoga each movement is synchronized with a breath - it is a connection between movement and breath. The breath is given primacy, acting as an anchor as you move from one pose to the next.

The many health benefits of this style of yoga are strengthening and muscle tone, balance and stability, as well as improving cardiovascular fitness.
